Weaver knew he received a regional award but did not know he was a national winner.

“I was very surprised to have been a national winner. I consider this a great honor and I am incredibly grateful,” said Weaver.

PCA officials said Weaver had more references from more student athletes and parents than anyone else.

“You may not have been able to tell with my sunglasses on, but my eyes welled up a little… it was a very special feeling to have won,” continued Weaver.

The PCA award goes to coaches who have been the most impactful on their student athletes.

The PCA website stated, “It is crucial that we recognize and hold great coaches up as an example to others.”

The award includes a donation on Weaver’s behalf to the LRHS Athletic Department.
