(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Silver Stars Dance Team traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete at the National Dance Team Championship (NDTC) and placed 13th in their national category. This was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports beginning Feb. 1.

The girls even had a “Nationals Send-off” where they were able to perform all three of their routines for the last time before competing them nationally.

The team had fierce competition as the other teams also put in hard work and came from states across the country. They competed two of their routines on Friday and their last one on Saturday in the finals.

The team’s coach, Kourtney Kalahar, constantly reminded the team that they “need to want it” in order to succeed and they did just that.“

Although it was nerve-wracking, I had an amazing time and can’t wait to do it again next year,” said freshman Hanna Wahlers.

After performing the routines, the team was able to go to the Walt Disney World parks. First, they went to Magic Kingdom on Sunday night.

“It was a great team bonding experience and I feel that it brought us all so much closer,” explained junior Hana Tomik.

The next day, the team explored Magic Kingdom again as well as Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

“I always love going to the parks with my team because we get to go on rides together and have a fun time,” said junior Emma Bramley.
