Local high school coach gets national recognition

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) softball head coach T.J. Goelz was named a 2022 Double-Goal Coach from the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).

A “Double-Goal Coach” is a coach who takes a mastery approach to a sport, teaches athletes with maximum effort, and who continuously learn and improve.

Only 100 coaches across the nation won this award.

Goelz said, “When I received this nomination, I was tremendously honored as well as extremely excited for our staff. This is a win for all of us and recognizes the incredible amount of time and dedication it takes to be invested in your players and the PCA.”

Goelz was nominated by an athlete and will be considered for the national award.

“With this award, I want to improve as a coach for my team. I want them to know this is a family they will have for a lifetime, that’s what’s most rewarding,” Goelz continued.

Goelz will be recognized at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 at the LRHS softball game against McKeel Academy for his award.
