Local winter guard brings home state title

The Lakewood Ranch High School winter color guard are tops in the state.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) winter guard is a state champion after competing in the Florida Federations for Color guard Circuit (FFCC) Championships this past Saturday at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center.

Placing first with a score of 91.74, the group won the Class B State Championship. Junior Cassidy Ditsworth is incredibly proud of everyone and the results of the season.

“We have pushed ourselves so much this year, and winning the championship was so rewarding for all of us,” Ditsworth said.

Sophomore Carly Baker is happy she joined this year to experience the comradery with her peers.

“I am just happy to perform with my best friends and band family,” Baker said.

Band director Ron Lambert is extremely happy with winter guard’s win.

“Proud isn’t strong enough to describe how I feel about the efforts of these students,” Lambert said.

While winter guard is ending, marching band is gearing up for a new season. Newcomers and veterans will be shown the 2019 marching band show theme at 7:30 P.M. this Thursday in the band room.
