(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)– In spite of the closing of school, the Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) cafeteria staff is staying busy by providing students meals during quarantine.
The curbside meals initiative that was launched following the closing of school campuses has both successfully fed students and kept the staff busy, according to LRHS’s cafeteria manager Amanda Farrelly.

Farrelly went on to describe that the new system isn’t necessarily more difficult, but an “Adjustment from what we normally do. We serve more students when school is in but packing everything up can be time consuming.”
Sanitation is key for a healthy cafeteria staff.Farrelly explained that the initiative allows any Manatee County child that is 18 years or younger to pick up a meal at one of the program’s 35 locations in the Manatee County area, which can be viewed on the Manatee County Website.

So far the LRHS cafeteria staff has served 8,166 meals to Manatee County residents.
In addition to some changes in meals, Farrelly also described how cafeteria staff has begun to undergo additional sanitation protocols in response to quarantine, with these including the practicing of social distancing and what Farrelly called the use of “diligent handwashing and sanitizing.”
