Man Found Dead On Skyway Fishing Pier: Manatee County Sheriff

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on the Sunshine Skyway Fishing Pier Friday afternoon, according to a news release from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses heard several gunshots at the pier and saw a vehicle drive away around 5:15 p.m., MCSO said.

When deputies got to the pier, they found the man dead from gunshot wounds in a parked vehicle, the agency said. Investigators are working to confirm the victim’s identity.

Detectives are following several leads and looking for unknown suspects who sped away from the area. For investigative reasons, MCSO said it won’t release any other details about the suspect’s vehicle at this time.

Investigators believe this was a targeted attack and not a random shooting.
