Man Named Prince Arrested In Bradenton Shooting

Bradenton Police say the man shot his live-in girlfriend in the arm and chest.

BRADENTON, FL — Bradenton Police have charged a 55-year-old man named Prince with several criminal charges following the April 16 shooting of a woman.

Not to be confused with Prince Rogers Nelson, the famous musician who died last week at the age of 57, this man is Prince Singletary.

According to the police department, its officers were called out to Manatee Memorial Hospital around 6:20 a.m. April 16 to speak with a shooting victim who was being treated for wounds to her right arm and chest area.

“Both the victim and her live-in boyfriend, Mr. Prince Singletary, were not truthful about how the shooting occurred,” the department announced in a Monday email to media. “Further investigation conducted by detectives showed that Mr. Singletary shot the victim.”

Police said Singletary told police several different accounts as to how the woman, who hasn’t been identified, was shot. He did, the email noted, admit to the actual shooting.
