Teen Robbed After Leaving Front Door Open

The crime occurred Wednesday morning at the Gates of Bradenton apartments.

A 16-year-old boy was struck with a handgun when a man entered his Bradenton apartment through an open door Wednesday morning.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. at the Gates of Bradenton apartments, 4515 26th St. W. Deputies say a man entered the teen’s home, hit him with a gun and then took an undisclosed amount of money in what they are characterizing as a home invasion.

The teen refused medical treatment, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated.

“The incident appears to be drug related,” deputies noted.

The suspect is believed to be driving a white Dodge Intrepid with tinted windows and chrome tires, possibly a 2005 model.
