Manatee Sheriff Announces Retirement
Brad Steube is turning in his badge after 40 years.

Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube has announced he intends to retire when his current term comes to a close in January 2017.
Steube has served as the county’s sheriff since he was appointed in April 2007 to fill out the remainder of former Sheriff Charlie Wells’ term. He was elected into the office in 2008 and re-elected in 2012.
Steube began his law enforcement career in 1976 with the Longboat Key Police Department. He became a sheriff’s deputy in 1978. Through the years, he worked his way up from patrol to special investigations and SWAT, among other posts. He was promoted to sergeant in 1982, lieutenant in 1985, captain in 1993, major in 1997 and became the agency’s chief deputy in 2004.

The end of Steube’s term marks his 40th anniversary in law enforcement, a media release on his retirement stated.
