Motorcyclist Run Over By Trooper After Hitting Deer: FL Highway Patrol
A motorcyclist is dead after crashing into a deer on I-75 in Manatee County and being hit by a state trooper, Florida Highway Patrol said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist was killed after hitting a deer on Interstate 75 in Manatee County Tuesday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The 50-year-old Sarasota man was traveling south on the highway at mile marker 232 at the time of the crash, which happened sometime after 9 p.m. The specific time remains under investigation, FHP said.
He was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting the deer and landed on the left paved shoulder.

The motorcycle came to a stop in the southbound travel lanes and the deer came to rest on the right shoulder.
A second vehicle traveling south on I-75 collided with the downed motorcycle, the agency said.

Meanwhile, a marked state trooper vehicle approaching the crash on southbound I-75 entered the left paved shoulder and collided with the previously downed motorcyclist, according to FHP.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
