Myakka City Teen Dies After Accidentally Shooting Self

A 16-year-old Mykka City teen died Thursday, Feb. 8, after accidentally shooting himself.

MYAKKA CITY, FL—A 16-year-old Mykka City teen died Thursday, Feb. 8, after accidentally shooting himself.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Tifanny and Earl Hall of 14930 Albritton Road were in their bedroom around 9 p.m. when they heard a gunshot.

They went to investigate and discovered their son, Wyatt L. Ballard Hall, had accidentally shot himself with a handgun.

Wyatt Hall told his parents he’d taken the gun outside to shoot wild animals that were getting into the trash but the gun discharged prematurely.

During their subsequent investigation, detectives determined that Hall was outside with three friends when he accidentally shot himself. The friends got scared and fled.

Deputies arrived on the scene and began life-saving measures but the teen died before the ambulance arrived.
