Manatee County Commissioners Elect New Chair, Vice Chair, Other Positions For 2022

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — County commissioners unanimously elected District 3 Commissioner Kevin Van Ostenbridge chairman of the Board of County Commissioners for 2022.

This planned change in leadership happens every year and ensures all board members can participate in leadership roles throughout their tenure on the commission, according to a Manatee County news release.

“It will be an honor to serve Manatee County as their chairman of the County Commission," Van Ostenbridge said. "I want to thank my colleagues for their confidence in my leadership. I look forward to a productive year of hard work in the interest of our taxpayers. My expectations are that this will be a year filled with accountability, civility and ethics (ACE) at all levels of our government.“

District 1 Commissioner James Satcher will serve as first vice chairman of the board next year. Second vice chairman will be at-large Commissioner George Kruse and at-large Commissioner Carol Whitmore will serve as third vice chairman.

District 2 Commissioner Reggie Bellamy will again serve as chairman of the Manatee County Port Authority. Kruse will be vice chair and the second vice chair will be District 4 Commissioner Misty Servia. Satcher will serve as third vice chairman of the Port Authority.

As was the case in 2021, Servia will serve as the Tourist Development Council chair. Whitmore will be the board's alternate representative on the TDC.
