New Poll Gives Scott the Lead Over Crist

Gov. Rick Scott has an advantage over Democratic contender Charlie Crist.

If today were Election Day, Gov. Rick Scott would likely keep his job.

That’s the finding of a new poll released by the Tampa Bay Times, Bay News 9 and the University of Florida Bob Graham Center. Scott, the Republican incumbent, has a 5-point lead over former Gov. Charlie Crist, his Democratic opponent. That lead is with Libertarian candidate Adrian Wyllie in the mix. When he’s removed, Scott’s lead jumps to 6 points.

Many of those surveyed in the telephone poll say they were happy with Florida’s economic recovery, but aren’t thrilled with their choices this election year. Crist served as the state’s Republican governor before switching affiliations to Independent. He announced his Democratic affiliation a few years ago.
