No Injuries in Manatee High School Bus Crash
The bus driver received a ticket for making an improper turn.

No one on board a bus headed to Manatee High School was injured during a Friday morning crash at the intersection of 7th Avenue Boulevard Northwest and 75th Street Northwest.
The bus driver, Lawanda Clayton, 53, of Bradenton, however, did receive a citation for making an improper turn.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 7:14 a.m. Clayton was stopped facing west on 7th Avenue Boulevard as a Toyota Tacoma driven by Timothy Gilchrist, 38, of Bradenton was heading south on 75th Street Northwest. Gilchrist made a left turn onto 7th Avenue Boulevard while the bus attempted to make a right turn onto 75th Street Northwest. The rear of the bus traveled into the eastbound lane of 7th Avenue Boulevard, causing it to strike Gilchrist’s truck.

The bus was transporting 10 students and one adult monitor to Manatee High. No injuries were reported, the patrol said. Clayton was cited for making an improper right turn.
