Ona Man Charged With Manslaughter Following Deadly Crash

A 21-year-old Ona man is facing manslaughter while driving under the influence charges after an accident that killed a Bradenton man.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL -- A 21-year-old Ona man is facing manslaughter while driving under the influence charges after an accident that killed a Bradenton man on State Road 64 Monday, Oct. 29.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 11 p.m. Brandon Blalock was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer east on State Road 64 west of Verna Bethany Road when he failed to navigate a curve and veered into the westbound traffic.

Troopers say the left front of Blalock's car collided with the left front of a Chevrolet S-10 driven by Dustin Horne, 30. of Bradenton. The impact caused the Chevrolet to rotate and overturn multiple times. Horne was ejected from the vehicle and it landed on top of him.

He died at the scene.

Blalock has been charged with DUI with property damage, DUI with injuries, DUI manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance and failure to drive within a single lane.
