Piero Rivolta wins silver medal from Florida Authors & Publishers Association

Sarasota-based poet and novelist Piero Rivolta has been awarded a silver medal by the Florida Authors & Publishers Association.

Sarasota-based poet and novelist Piero Rivolta has been awarded a silver medal by the Florida Authors & Publishers Association (FAPA) for his collection of verse, Just One Scent: The Rest Is God, released in a second, revised edition in 2015. FAPA honored Rivolta and his fellow winners and finalists during a banquet held Sat., Aug. 8, at Walt Disney World Resort.

Just One Scent was originally published in Italian in 1999 by the Italian publishing house Crocetti Editore, eventually selling more than 7,000 copies worldwide. An updated edition of poems in both Italian and English, with a new introduction and photographs, was published in March 2015 by Sarasota-based New Chapter Publisher. The new edition contains 22 poems and three prose pieces, which meditate on love, hope, pleasure and the mysterious aspects of life

“This book has traveled down a long, and many times surprising, path since I first put pen to paper,” says Rivolta. “I’m honored to be able to share my thoughts and verses with new readers and I am happy that the Florida Authors & Publishers Association considered Just One Scentworthy of this recognition.”

Each year, FAPA gives out gold and silver medals to authors in a number of categories. Winning publications include children’s picture books, historical novels, home and garden books and much more.

Rivolta, who has published three other books of poetry and four novels, kicked off the release of the second edition of Just One Scent during a celebration at the Sarasota Opera House, held in April to coincide with National Poetry Month. The event, called Poetic Life, included opening remarks from good friend and tennis Hall of Famer Nick Bollettieri, poetry readings by local arts, media and business personalities, and general discussion of what constitutes a poetically inspired life.
