Road-Rage Arrests Made In I-75 Incident: FHP

A driver and his passenger were arrested following a road-rage incident on I-75 in Manatee County Thursday morning, FHP said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Two arrests were made in a Thursday morning road-rage incident on I-75 in Manatee County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers say that 25-year-old Carlos Cruz of Jacksonville was driving a Volkswagen Jetta, and honked the horn and steered the vehicle close to another vehicle on the highway around 8 a.m.

His passenger, 20-year-old Alecia Kirby of Kentucky, threw a bottle and brandished a baseball bat outside the window at the other vehicle, FHP said.

When troopers pulled them over at mile marker 226 on I-75, they found the baseball bat, marijuana and paraphernalia in their car, FHP said.

Cruz faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to register a motor vehicle.

Kirby faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were booked into Manatee County Jail.
