Sarasota Man Seriously Injured In Manatee County Crash: FHP
The driver of a pick-up truck was seriously injured in an accident at University Parkway and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard Thursday, FHP said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A 40-year-old Sarasota man was seriously injured in a crash at University Parkway and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard Thursday, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
A sedan driven by a 77-year-old Palmetto man was traveling west on University Parkway in the left turning lane Thursday, approaching a red left arrow signal at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard just before 2 p.m. Thursday, troopers said.
At the same time, the pick-up truck, driven by the 40-year-old man and towing a trailer, was traveling east on University Parkway in the center lane, approaching a green traffic signal at that intersection, FHP said.

The 77-year-old turned his sedan left in front of the pick-up truck as it entered the intersection. The front of the pick-up truck hit the car’s right side, troopers aid.
The driver of the sedan, as well as the pick-up truck’s passengers — a 37-year-old Bradenton woman and a Sarasota male of an unknown age — suffered minor injuries in the crash, FHP said.
