Tammy Sawmelle, who holds a doctorate in educational research and evaluation from Nova Southeastern University, recently completed her first semester as director of nursing programs at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). Prior to joining SCF, Dr. Sawmelle was an assistant professor of nursing at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA, and associate dean of nursing at the Community College of Allegheny County.

Sawmelle has drawn from her experience in operations, project management and learning theory to support SCF’s nursing programs as they grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community.

“My role at SCF allows me to truly understand the healthcare and nursing needs of my new community,” said Sawmelle. “With this opportunity as the Director of Nursing Programs, I can imagine new possibilities of both qualitative and quantitative growth for our nursing programs to meet the community needs.”
