Senior VA DTQ Little League team wins SE Regionals 5 to 1 at Safety Harbor

Senior VA DTQ Little League team wins SE Regionals 5 to 1 at Safety Harbor

The DTQ Senior team managed by Tim Jabs, with assistants Rick Gatewood, Jamie Stehlin,
defeated the North Springs team from Coral Springs FL 5 to 1 on Wednesday July 27 to advance to the Sr. Little League World Series in Bangor Maine.

DTQ advanced to SE Regionals by eliminating 6 teams at the VA State Tournament. The 2016 player roster
consisted of Carson Arguin, Joseph Cofer, Evan Cooper, Jack Dumoulin, Blake Gatewood, Daniel Hupart,
Devin Logsdon, Jackson Lowery, Darien Porter, Ethan Semones, Anthony Stehlin, Chase Stoltmann and Tristan Thorgersen.

VA opened up the SE Regionals in Safety Harbor with a solid 17-1 win vs. Tennessee followed by a setback to
North Springs 9-6. DTQ rebounded with a 12-0 victory vs West Virginia followed by a thrilling come from behind
14-10 win vs GA to advance to the SE Regional finals. In the 14-10 win vs GA the team went into the final inning
trailing 9-2 and scored 8 runs to eventually force extra innings where DTQ prevailed.

In the championship game Manager Tim Jabs decided to start with Devin Logsdon asking him to
get through their line up one time. Devin did much more than expected getting DTQ to the fifth inning.
The plan was to close with Carson Arguin who indeed did a great job.

Every hit mattered but Anthony Stehlins' 3 run home run was huge as was his stellar play in the field.
First baseman Blake Gatewoods caught a line drive, and turned two, thwarting late a North Springs rally.
Tristan Thorgersen & Ethan Semones were solid defensibly behind the plate and in center field. The defensive efforts of all the players from States to SE Regionals was a major reason the DTQ team is headed to
Maine for the second straight year.

The coaching staff was very proud of the players and appreciative of the support
from the parents and the league.

The team flies from Tampa to Bangor Maine on Friday July 29 to begin play at the Senior World Series
