Sheriff's Office Looking For Missing Woman

Husband tells deputies that Debra Weiss, 54, didn't return from a trip to Ellenton Premium Outlets on Friday night.

Deputies are searching for a missing Manatee County woman whose husband says she never returned from a trip to the Ellenton Premium Outlets, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said Saturday.

Debra Weiss, 54, was reported missing by her husband, who said the last time they talked was around 7:45 p.m. Friday.

"She told him that she was shopping at the outlet mall and she would be coming home soon," a news release states. Her disappearance was not reported to the sheriff's office until Saturday because the husband thought he had to wait 24 hours to report a missing person, the release states.

Weiss is about 5-foot-8 and 120 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a tan top and white Puma shoes. Her husband told investigators Weiss is bipolar and takes medication but does not have it with her.

Weiss was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6. The parking lot at the mall, 5461 Factory Shops Blvd. in Ellenton, was searched for her car, and mall security was notified, according to the release. The sheriff's office attempted to call her cell phone but it was turned off.
