Show Horse's Slaughter Under Investigation

Manatee deputies say someone took the meat.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an animal cruelty case involving a show horse.

According to the agency, someone went onto the owner of the horse’s property overnight Saturday or early Sunday morning and killed the animal. The owner found her horse slaughtered Sunday morning.

When deputies responded to the victim’s Gillet Road home in Palmetto, they found the animal dead and “large portions of meat cut from it and missing,” an email from the agency to media stated. “The horse had been stolen in the night from its stall that’s attached to the home (the owner) was sleeping in.”
