Six Puppies Stolen From Petland Worth $35,000: Sheriff

The sheriff's office said two women broke into the Bradenton Petland store early Friday morning and stole six puppies worth $35,000.

BRADENTON, FL — Two women stole six puppies worth about $35,000 from the Bradenton Petland store early Friday morning, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The women broke into the pet shop at 3530 53rd Ave. W around 1 a.m. Friday. Deputies responded to the store after someone passing by noticed the front door was shattered, the sheriff’s office said.

One suspect is described as a petite woman wearing a grey hoodie, sweatpants and orange gloves, the sheriff’s office said. The second suspect is described as a petite woman wearing a darky grey or black hoodie, sweatpants, and dark-colored gloves.

Surveillance video shows two vehicles drive through the parking lot and stop close to the Petland entrance. The video also shows the front door being smashed with a brick and what appears to be two females, completely covered, entering the store carrying a bag, the sheriff’s office said.

In the video, one suspect jumps over the counter before heading to the puppy kennels. The women placed the puppies into the bag and exited the store, the sheriff’s office said.
