Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on U.S. 301

An emergency landing Friday morning of a small aircraft has slowed traffic along U.S. 301 near the intersection of Whitfield.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the plane landed around 8:25 a.m. No injuries were reported. Traffic is slowed, but moving through the area, the sheriff’s office reports.

The plane, sheriff’s office spokesman Dave Bristow said, took off from St. Petersburg and was cleared to land at Sarasota/Bradenton. Engine problems prompted the emergency landing.

The FAA is investigating.
