A group of 30 students from State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) expanded their studies beyond the classroom during a summer 2026 study-abroad trip to France, Switzerland and the Riviera in June.
Led by Michael Rogers, professor of American history and political science at SCF Venice, students explored the region’s history and culture through guided tours and excursions to historic sites, museums and cultural landmarks. Rogers has led SCF’s summer study-abroad trip in Europe since 2016.
"This trip changed the way I see the world,” said SCF study-abroad student Brianna Mortenson. “It left me with a deeper meaning of what history and culture are and a journey that I will cherish forever."

SCF also offers an optional European study-abroad class in the summer semester.
