Substitute Teacher Charged With Battery On Student: Police

BRADENTON, FL — A 66-year-old substitute teacher for the School District of Manatee County has been charged with simple battery after hitting a student Friday, Bradenton police said in a news release.

Robert Morse told police he was “being playful” when he hit a 12-year-old student as he was walking into G.D. Rogers Garden-Bullock Elementary School, according to the news release. The school is located at 515 13th Ave. W. in Bradenton.

The child wasn’t injured in the incident, police said. Morse was arrested Friday.
