Summmerville SC Little League caps solid season at SE Regionals in Florida
Summerville Little League
As the only team in their SC district, Summerville Little League advanced straight to the South Carolina State Championship. They defeated Darlington Little League and Chester Little League. The championship game was won 12-9. The team fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning but rebounded for 8 runs in the home half of the inning. This gave Summerville Little League their first ever State Championship.
For their first game of Regional play in Safety Harbor Florida, Summerville Little League played North Carolina. The game started with a bang, a 3-run home run by Ethan Kitchen in the first inning and then the bats went cold. Hunter Stampley pitched a good game but the team lost 7-4. In their second game, South Carolina faced a fired-up Georgia team. The game was close until the third inning when Georgia's bats came alive while South Carolina's bats remained cold.
While the results were not what was expected, the coaches were very proud of their team. Manager Kyle Stampley said the team represented their League and state very well. The host League and District had a very nice complex and the tournament was well organized.
