Tour of Lights Returns to Bradenton

The buses will run Dec. 18-19.

Tampa Bay area residents eager to see west Bradenton lit up for the season will get their chance to take part in this year’s Tour of Lights soon.

The popular program sponsored by Manatee County Area Transit, returns Dec. 18-19. The 90-minute tour takes passengers on a ride through the city’s neighborhoods to see homes lit up for the season. The cost to board a bus is a nonperishable food item or an unwrapped toy. The food will benefit local social service networks while toys will go to the local Toys for Tots program, the county announced in a media release.

The Tours of Lights dates back to 2002 when Manatee County resident Ted Nowosad asked County Commissioners for a way to help seniors see decorations. Between 1,500 and 2,000 people now take part in the annual tour.
