Traffic Reopens Following Truck Crash On Manatee River Bridge
The Florida Highway Patrol has cleared the tractor-trailer truck cab that lost control on Interstate 75 over the Manatee River.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL -- The Florida Highway Patrol has cleared the tractor-trailer truck cab that lost control on Interstate 75 over the Manatee River around 7:20 a.m. Friday, July 20, causing the truck's cab to dangle precariously off the bridge.
Truck driver Troy Betts,, 49, of Sarasota was heading north on Interstate 75 in the center lane when another vehicle suddenly moved from the right to the center lane, cutting Betts off. Due to the wet road surface, Betts lost control of the truck, which jackknifed. The cab collided with the bridge and the undercarriage went over the bridge.
Betts was able to get out of the cab. He received minor injuries.
