SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX — Following a national manhunt, wanted fugitive "Losing Streak Lois" Riess, 56, was apprehended by the United States Marshals Service Thursday, April 19, in South Padre Island, Texas.
The Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, woman is a suspect in the March murder of her husband David Riess and the murder of Pamela Hutchinson, 59, of Bradenton earlier this month.
David Riess was found shot dead at their home in Blooming Prairie on March 23. Officials said Riess transferred nearly $10,000 from her husband's business account and forged his signature on three checks to herself for $11,000 after his death.

Riess was later spotted on surveillance cameras driving up to a Hilton hotel in Ocala in Hutchinson's 2005 white Acura TL and walking through the lobby wearing Hutchinson's hat.
The arrest brings an end to a weeks-long search that began in Dodge County, Minnesota, but involved local, state and federal law enforcement across the country.
"I promised all along that Lois Riess would end up in a pair of handcuffs," Lee County Undersheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement. "Tonight, she sits in a jail cell in Texas. We are working as expeditiously as possible to bring her back to Lee County to face murder charges."
Dubbed by authorities as "Losing Streak Lois," Riess is known to have a gambling addiction and frequents casinos, police said.
Marceno said she was so elusive because she "smiles and looks like anyone's mother or grandmother, and yet she's calculated, she's targeted and she's an absolute cold-blooded killer."
