Walmart Expanding Online Grocery Services in Tampa Bay

Breaking: Seven new Walmart stores are being added to the list of those offering online grocery pickup services in Tampa Bay.

TAMPA BAY, FL — Tampa Bay area residents who prefer ordering their groceries online for pickup at a later time will soon find seven additional Walmart stores available to serve. The retailer has announced plans to nearly triple its online ordering service in the Tampa Bay area by month’s end.

Walmart’s online service works by enabling consumers to order their groceries online for pickup at set times. Store employees shop for the items and have them waiting for pickup when customers arrive. The free service enables customers to get their groceries without the need to leave their vehicles.

“At Walmart, we have always been known for saving our customers money and, with services like grocery pickup, we are also saving them valuable time,” said Phillip Keene, director of communications for Walmart in the Southeast, said in a statement. “Our customers have told us that grocery pick up is a game changer. They are now able to complete their grocery shopping in a matter of minutes between errands or on their way home from an after-school activity without even unbuckling their seat belts.”

The pickup service covers about 30,000 items found within Walmart Supercenter and Walmart Neighborhood Market locations. Items included produce, dairy, fresh meats, snacks, dog food, diapers and more. Item pricing is the same found within the store, the company said.

At present, grocery pickup is offered at four Tampa Bay area Walmart stores:
