DOH To Offer 5,100 First-Dose Coronavirus Vaccines

Manatee County will select names from its coronavirus vaccine standby pool for clinics Wednesday through Friday at Tom Bennett Park.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — The Department of Health in Manatee County began booking 5,100 appointments Monday for an upcoming drive-thru coronavirus vaccination clinic, the county government shared on Facebook.

Manatee County’s 311 employees are picking names randomly from the county’s vaccine standby pool and contacting people to book appointments for the clinic, which will run Wednesday through Friday at Tom Bennett Park located at 400 Cypress Creek Blvd. in Bradenton.

Officials ask that those registered in the vaccine standby pool refrain from calling 311 or any other county office to ask if they’ve been selected for the clinic.

Those who don’t receive a call for this clinic don’t need to register again, the county said. Their names will remain in the pool for future vaccine clinics.

Manatee County has opted out of the new statewide registration system. Local seniors should continue using the county registration system and shouldn’t enroll in the state’s system. Signing up through the state won’t make you eligible for a vaccine in Manatee, the county said.
