BRADENTON, FL — On Monday, residents and businesses in Bradenton will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Manatee County.

Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:

Manatee County Public Schools: Schools closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday.

Manatee County government offices: All offices will be closed Monday.

County trash collection: Trash and recycling pick-up for residents of unincorporated Manatee County will continue as normally scheduled.

Manatee County Area Transit: MCAT and the Anna Maria Trolley will run on normal, daily routes.

G.T. Bray Recreation Center: Closed Monday

Downtown Central Library: The only library usually open on Monday will be closed for the holiday and will reopen Tuesday.

Publicly owned natural preserves, parks and beaches: Open Monday

Manatee County and Buffalo Creek golf courses: Open Monday

Bradenton City Hall and other city offices: Closed Monday.

City trash collection: Bradenton's solid waste collection will not be affected by the holiday.
