1 Dead in Broadway Avenue Crash

Brandon, FL — A 31-year-old Tampa woman is dead following an early Sunday morning crash on Broadway Avenue near Falkenburg Road.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Esther Jean of Tampa was heading west on Broadway around 5:40 a.m. in a Toyota Camry. As she approached Falkenburg Road, Jacob Robin Albaraccin of Brandon was traveling east on Broadway at approximately 70 mph in another Camry, an email from the sheriff’s office said.

Albaraccin, the email said, drove left of the center line, crossed into Jean’s path and struck her car head-on. Jean was killed instantly, the sheriff’s office said.

Albaraccin had to be extricated from his vehicle, the email noted. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital. His condition was not known.

The investigation in the crash remains active, the sheriff’s office said.
