1 Killed in U.S. 301 Motorcycle Crash

The accident happened early Tuesday morning.

A 33-year-old Plant City man is dead following a Tuesday morning crash on northbound U.S. 301 near State Road 60.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was riding a Yamaha YZF westbound on State Road 60 around 3:13 a.m. He was in the right turn lane to northbound U.S. 301 and failed to negotiate the turn. The motorcycle ultimately struck the raised center median, overturned and came to rest in the path of an oncoming Toyota Camry driven by Ejgu Marye, 46, of Riverview. The Camry then collided with the motorcycle.

Troopers say the man, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he later died from his injuries. A passenger on the bike, an 18-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Camry was not injured.
