S.A.L.T. COUNCIL & Law Enforcement - Award Ceremony
The S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Council of Hillsborough County is pleased to announce the 11th Annual R. Garey Saunders Award. This award is presented each year to an individual employed by law enforcement who has made a significant contribution or impact on the lives of an elderly citizen or citizens of Hillsborough County during 2013.Tampa Police Detective R. Garey Saunders dedication and concern for the elderly population of Hillsborough County was an inspiration to others in the law enforcement community. Upon his death, this award was established in recognition of his dedication and selfless efforts on behalf of the senior citizens in Hillsborough County.
Garey Saunders Jr., who is a police officer too, his wife and mother will be in attendance to honor their father / husband at this award. The recipient is Barbara Jones, CSO that has worked tirelessly for the Sheriff's Office helping seniors / elderly out in Riverview and hosts Christmas dinner (including gifts) to over 600 indigent seniors annually.
