16-Year-Old Killed While Riding Bike On Parsons Avenue

BRANDON, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident on North Parsons Avenue that left a teenager dead.

Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, a red 2000 Ford Explorer was heading north on North Parsons Avenue just south of Clemons Road when 16-year-old Terry Martin crossed the road on his bicycle in the path of the Explorer.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said the driver saw the bicycle just before the impact but was unable to avoid the crash. The front of the SUV struck the left side of Martin's bicycle. He died at the scene.

The driver did not exhibit signs of impairment and was cooperative with the investigation.

Martin did not attend any area high schools.
