1993 Cold Case Of Mom And Baby Last Seen In Brandon: HCSO Podcast

The sheriff's office reviews clues about an 18-year-old mom and her baby last seen in Brandon in 1993 on Episode 7 of its weekly podcast.

BRANDON, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office discusses on its weekly podcast the disappearance of 18-year-old Bonnie Lee Dages and her son, Jeremy, after they mysteriously went missing after a trip to a Brandon shopping center on April 28, 1993.

Detective Cley Hobelmann, lead investigator on the case, said Dages came into a huge inheritance left to her by a family member.

Authorities learned that on the day the mother and son went missing, Dages told the family she babysat for that she was going to complete a transaction that included withdrawing her inheritance money from a bank and giving it in the form of cash to a person.

Investigators did not reveal the amount of money she inherited, however they did say it was a lot.

"We don't have specific evidence that this transaction was ever completed, but we have a couple interviews surrounding that give some good information or direction toward that transaction transpiring," said Hobelmann. "It's shortly thereafter later in that evening on the night that she goes missing that ultimately she goes out and then is not seen from or heard from again."

Two days later, deputies found her abandoned van at a Kash 'N Karry that was once at the intersection of Lithia Pinecrest and Lumsden Roads in Brandon.

"There's not evidence that we have for this case that explicitly says that she drove to that Kash 'N Karry, and that the van was there for the full two days before it was found," said Hobelmann.

A baby bag and a carrier for the child were found inside the van.

Twenty-seven-years later this case is still active, and Dages family still hopes for answers and wants justice in case someone was responsible for her and her son's disappearance.
