2-Year-Old Run Over Outside Home

A 2-year-old Gibsonton boy was airlifted to a local hospital Sunday afternoon.

Gibsonton, FL — A 2-year-old boy was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition after a Sunday crash outside his home.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Concepcion, 28, and the little boy’s grandfather, Randy Lear, were leaving a home on Flume Terrace around 4:20 p.m. Concepcion backed away from the residence in his truck, but did not see Zachary Ustaszewski in a stroller behind him, an email from the sheriff’s office said.

Concepcion, deputies said, began to pull forward, not aware he had backed over the stroller.

A neighbor ran to the truck and began banging on the window to stop the men, the email said. The child was pulled to a grassy area near the home and authorities were called.

Zachary suffered severe head trauma, deputies say. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital.
