PLANT CITY, FL — The investigation into the death of a 67-year-old Michigan man at a Plant City gas station last week remains very much active despite a recent arrest in the case.

According to the Plant City Police Department, its investigation into the homicide has revealed a second suspect was involved in the death of Michael Beson. The search for a second suspect was announced Thursday afternoon. Police announced the arrest of Xavier Quesean Smith, 19, on first-degree murder and attempted robbery charges Monday.

Beson was pumping gas at the 2010 N. Wheeler St. Mobile station on April 8 around 8:20 p.m. when an armed robbery attempt occurred. While the robbery was thwarted, Beson suffered upper body trauma and died at the scene, the police department wrote in an email to media.
