3 Dead In Fiery 4-Vehicle U.S. 301 Crash

The early Saturday morning wreck left a section of U.S. 301 closed for hours Saturday morning.

Thonotosassa, FL – Three people are dead and two injured following a Saturday morning crash on U.S. 301 involving four vehicles.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Elisa Chanterlriquelme, 28, of Zephyrhills was heading south on U.S. 301, north of Stacey Road, around 5:44 a.m. Chanterlriquelme was passing another vehicle in the northbound lane and struck a Ford Explorer driven by a 24-year-old Riverview man head on, a highway patrol report said.

The driver of the Explorer was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

At that time, a Ford F150, driven by Gordon Jones Price, 64, of Tampa was heading north on U.S. 301. Price’s truck hit the rear of the Explorer, which then burst into flames. A fourth vehicle, a Chevrolet S10, driven by Stevie Tyrone Gainey, 58, of Tampa then struck the rear of Price’s F150, the report said.

The driver of the Explorer and passenger Corey Samuel Dormany, 24, of Seffner died at the scene, troopers said. Chanterlriquelme also died at the scene. Dormany was the only one of the three wearing a seat belt, the report noted. The driver of the Explorer has not yet been identified by authorities.

Two other people were injured in the crash. Both suffered minor injuries, the patrol said.
