3rd Person Arrested In Connection With Death Of Dover Mom

DOVER, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a third person in connection with the homicide of a Dover mother July 18.

Cornelio Negrete Jr., 28, was arrested Wednesday and charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, principal to first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and false reports to law enforcement in connection with the death of his wife, Erica Aviles.

On Aug. 2, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Daniel Negrete, 27, and his girlfriend, Fatima Garcia Avila, 20, in connection with the homicide of the young mother in Dover and a man in Thonotosassa.

According to a sheriff's report, detectives learned that Negrete and Garcia Avila drove together to the Avila's home in the 3000 block of Al Simmons Road in Dover on the night of July 18. Negrete and Garcia Avila left the home in separate vehicles, one of which detectives found nearby after it had been set on fire.

Then, on July 26, detectives responded to the Baker Creek Boat Ramp at 12095 Thonotosassa Road, for a report of a person down. They discovered Garcia Avila's former boyfriend, Antonio Benito Cuellar-Enriquez, dead from upper body trauma.

Again during their investigation, detectives discovered that both Negrete and Garcia Avila were there at the time of the crime and believe they are responsible for Cuellar-Enriquez' death, said the sheriff's office. According to the sheriff's office, Garcia Avila lured her ex-boyfriend to the boat ramp and shot him multiple times.

"These senseless killings have forever changed at least two families," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Ending someone's life cannot — and should not — be the answer to any situation. Detectives are still connecting the dots to determine the motive behind the two murders and if there are others involved. I pray that these arrests, while they won't bring home their loved ones, will give the families affected some closure."

Daniel Negrete has been charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit premeditated first-degree murder, arson and felon in possession of a firearm.

Garcia Avila is charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm, two counts of conspiracy to commit premeditated first-degree murder and tampering with witnesses.
