70-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed While Crossing State Road 60

A ​70-year-old pedestrian was killed when she was struck by an SUV while walking across State Road 60 at Mount Carmel Road.

BRANDON, FL -- A 70-year-old pedestrian was killed when she was struck by an SUV while walking across State Road 60 at Mount Carmel Road.

The accident occurred Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11:11 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Mary J. Philip of New Port Richey was crossing the eastbound lanes of S.R. 60 when she walked into the path of a Toyota 4Runner driven by James Owen Vanhorn, 47, of Lithia.

She was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
