Accused Bank Robber Tied to String of Crimes, Cops Say
The Plant City man was brought into custody Tuesday.
A 33-year-old Plant City man faces a number of criminal charges after police connected him with a Monday armed robbery at a Regions Bank branch.
According to the Plant City Police Department, Jarrod Shane Butterworth was charged in the robbery after numerous tips poured into Crime Stoppers. With help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Butterworth was brought into custody Tuesday.
The crime in question occurred around 11 a.m. Monday when a man walked into the 2601 Thonotosassa Road bank armed with a gun. The man, police said, demanded cash and then fled the bank.

Following Monday’s robbery, police announced there might be a connection between their bank robber and the suspect wanted in connection with an Oct. 13 robbery at a Sonic and an Oct. 14 robbery at an Arby’s.
Following his arrest, police wrote in an email to media, that Butterworth confessed to the Regions Bank robbery and also admitted his connection to the two fast-food robberies and a recent incident at the Sunshine Convenience Store.

Butterworth was subsequently charged with four counts of armed robbery, seven counts of kidnapping and one count of grand theft auto. He was being held in the Hillsborough County Jail Wednesday without bond, according to jail records.
