• 2 killed in crash with construction vehicle on I-75 (ground.news) — Two people were killed early Friday when their GMC Sierra rear-ended a construction street sweeper on I-75 near Fletcher Avenue in Tampa, according to troopers. The sweeper was driven by a 46-year-old Brandon man traveling ahead of the pickup in the outside lane. The crash shut down part of the interstate and remains under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.
   

• Florida street race ended by state troopers with 2 toddlers in the vehicle (fox13news.com) — A high-speed street race on I-75 ended with troopers arresting a Brandon man and another driver after they allegedly hit 120 mph while two toddlers rode in one of the cars. The Brandon driver faces racing and speeding charges, while the other father is also charged with child neglect. Both vehicles were impounded and child welfare officials were notified.
   

• Pinellas DUI wolfpack operation honors father killed by impaired driver (fox13news.com) — Law enforcement agencies in Pinellas County are running a DUI "Wolfpack" operation this weekend in memory of a Brandon father killed by an impaired driver in 2024. His family joined officers to share his story and urge drivers to choose sober rides. The effort targets drunk and impaired driving while also cracking down on speeding and other violations.
