Second Person Arrested In Brandon Shooting That Injured Bystander: Sheriff (patch.com) — A Brandon resident was arrested in connection with an Aug. 12 shooting at a Landon Preserve Circle apartment complex that injured an innocent bystander, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say the 19-year-old suspect was armed during a robbery and now faces multiple felony charges as detectives continue investigating the case.
2. Victoria Street Update: N. Knights Ave. And N. Moon Ave. Closed; N. Kings Ave. Open (ospreyobserver.com) — Drivers and families near Brandon High School should prepare for North Knights and North Moon avenues closing at Victoria Street starting Monday morning as pipeline construction moves east. North Kings Avenue is now open, but Victoria Street and its sidewalk remain closed in sections, so students are urged to follow posted detours via West Sadie Street and North Kings for safe access.
3. First-Time Dad Delivers Partner's Breech Baby Girl in Florida Pawn Shop Parking Lot When She Came Unexpectedly Early (people.com) — A Brandon couple's baby girl arrived early in a pawn shop parking lot, where the first‑time dad calmly delivered her breech while on the phone with 911. Paramedics reached them minutes later and took mom and baby to the hospital, where both are doing well. The parents say they're simply grateful the surprise Brandon delivery ended safely.
4. William Ellenwood Jr. (1938-2026) (highlandscurrent.org subscription) — An 88-year-old former Beacon resident who later moved to Brandon to be near his daughter has died, leaving family and friends reflecting on his long life of service and community. Known for his decades at Ideal Grocery and Market and his devotion to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, he is remembered fondly by his daughters, grandchildren and extended family.
