3 Hospitalized After Amtrak Train, Semi Collide On U.S. 92
The accident happened near the intersection of U.S. 92 and Park Road in the Plant City area Tuesday afternoon.

PLANT CITY, FL -- A Tuesday afternoon crash on U.S. 92 and Park Road in the Plant City area involving an Amtrak train and semi-truck is under investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
According to that agency, a tractor trailer was in the process of delivering tires to an automotive business in the area at the time of the crash. The truck driver, who has not been identified, was turning into the driveway when the train struck the center of his trailer. The impact cut the trailer in half, an email from the sheriff's office said.
"The driver of the semi was not injured and initially there were no injuries to anyone on the train (8 employees and 90 passengers), but 3 individuals were later transported to local hospital (probable stress related)," the email noted.
