Arrest Made In Theft of $247,000 Motor Home In Seffner

Thanks to a tip from the public, the motorhome has been located in Oakland Park in Broward County, and the accused thief has been arrested.

SEFFNER, FL -- A man accused of stealing a $247,000 Winnebago in Seffner didn’t get far. Thanks to a tip from the public, the motorhome has been located in Oakland Park in Broward County, and the accused thief has been arrested.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Schneider, 59, of Lauderhill is accused of writing a worthless check on June 26 for $246,445.51 to purchase a 2014 Winnebago from Lazydays RV of Tampa, 6130 Lazy Days Blvd., Seffner.

According to the sheriff’s office, Schneider left Lazydays with the motorhome. When Lazydays tried to process the check, however, it was returned to the RV center for insufficient funds.

A warrant was issued for Schneider’s arrest on Thursday, Sept. 13. A day later, tips from the public led authorities to the RV park in Broward County.

Schneider was arrested a short distance from the RV park.

He is awaiting extradition from Broward back to Hillsborough County, where he will be held on a $150,000 bond for first-degree grand theft.
