Bernie Sanders Plans Tampa Rally

Sen. Bernie Sanders will be in town for a rally on Thursday, the same day Democrat challenger Hillary Clinton plans an appearance.

TAMPA, FL — Thursday is going to be a crazy day for political followers in the Tampa Bay area.

Just one day after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced a March 10 rally in town, her challenger in the Democratic primary has done the same. Sen. Bernie Sanders plans a rally Thursday afternoon at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

Doors for Sanders’ “A Future to Believe in Rally” open at 4 p.m. Tickets for the event are not required, but the campaign stresses that RSVPs are “strongly encouraged.” Admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

There’s no charge to attend the rally at the 4800 U.S. 301 fairgrounds, but Sanders’ supporters can expect to pay a parking fee.

RSVPs for the event are being accepted on the Sanders campaign website.

Clinton, who leads Sanders in the latest Florida polls, will play host to a “Get Out the Vote” rally at The Ritz Ybor, 1503 E. 7th Ave., Thursday morning. Doors for that event open at 9:45 a.m.

The Florida Presidential Preference Primary is set for Tuesday, March 15. Former Secretary of State Clinton leads the latest polls against Democrat challenger Sen. Bernie Sanders. Donald Trump remains ahead on the Republican side.
