Bethune Park In Wimauma Goes Greener With $29,000 Funding

Several Hillsborough County organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, have volunteered to plant more trees at Bethune.

WIMAUMA, FL — Park lovers will soon enjoy the presence of more green plants at Bethune Park that will be added to the location by a project that includes the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, Hillsborough County said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful are joining the Boys & Girls Clubs to help plant more than 40 trees at this 11-acre park, 5809 Edina St., on Thursday at 9 a.m.

The $29,000 project will last throughout the day, and it also includes planting seedlings and a variety of plants.

It is funded in part by Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and through Hillsborough County’s Tree Fund, which helps preserve and enhance the tree canopy throughout Hillsborough County.
